Nobody really wants to see Negan cry like he did in front of Maggie Greene. It’s about time he could wreck havoc on the TWD universe once again. That is until he opened the door himself, and smiled like every Walking Dead viewer should have been doing. At first Negan was beside himself, realizing his only form of entertainment was out of commission. Negan was freed by simply opening the door to his cell - nice job Gabriel! The former Sanctuary leader was throwing a ball off the wall to his cell for a while when it went out the bars. No need to confine one of The Walking Dead’s biggest characters of all time to four walls and a window. The series can rise or fall based on where Negan goes from here on out. Not that there is anything wrong with being a Wilson it’s a wholesome, fun character, but The Walking Dead’s Negan was not meant for a comedy sitcom. He is not to be kept in a feel-good role akin to Home Improvement’s neighbor Wilson talking to Judith Grimes. Negan is a pivotal character on the series, and some of the show’s most heightened, elevated moments came from the man’s top level acting. Guess who’s free? Negan, that’s who! Finally, after wasting away in a cell when he could be entertaining viewers, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is out of his narrative captivity, and the smile on his face in-character said it all. This recap contains spoilers for The Walking Dead season 9, episode 8.

Villainous surprises occurred on The Walking Dead’s midseason finale, and they couldn’t have come at a better time to keep viewers on their toes.
